Create depth of field: You can quite easily add depth of field to the images that you have taken “snaps” of. If you have an image that is completely in focus and the background too is in focus (a common effect of non SLR digital point and shoot cameras) the you can solve this using Photoshop. You simply draw a mask or make a selection around the subject, invert that mask so that it selects all but the subject and apply a blur effect to the part of the image that is selected. In the later versions of Photoshop there is actually a filter that emulates the natural lens blur. The end result is a sharp, in focus subject with an out of focus background. This can be very effective and can draw attention to the subject.

The editing programs today can do wonders to images. One of the most popular programs is Adobe PhotoShop, since this editing program is one of the most sophisticated tools. Most pro photographers will use this program, since you can create websites, book covers, images, movies, and more. Adobe is also used to design manuals, graphics, commercials, fliers, and more. This particular program I miss. I lost my copy during a severe virus attack, and the downside is it costs around $1000 to $1500 to replace. Outside of lightning effects, you can also setup brick backgrounds, or whatever background you choose. If you own this program you know what I am talking about, however if you have never had the experience and can get the opportunity to try out Adobe I promise you will have loads of fun.
Photoshop costs around $600 these days, and Gimp is free, so of course if cost is a factor you’re going to swerve towards Gimp. Photoshop has two leads over Gimp: patented features the interface that everyone is used to Most especially, Gimp is out of the running for professional print shop editing, thanks to the patent lock on industrial features such as color correction and CMYK. Gimp can emulate these features with work-arounds, that’s all there is to it.
Adobe’s Photoshop software is a very powerful image editing program that is by far the market leader for editing image files. I use Photoshop extensively when creating, and editing images for the web sites that I design. Almost all professional photographers and printers also use Photoshop to create all of the wonderful images that appear in magazines, billboards, and even on television. I am not the best artist in the world, but with Photoshop I have enough power to create brilliant images with tools that are built-in to the software.
One of the most powerful functionalities in Photoshop is the ablilty to overlay images and objects on top of each other, and then change the overall opacity of those layers, or selectively change the opacity in certain areas of the layer.
When I am creating web sites I use Photoshop to create the navigation for the web site and also to optimize all of the images, so that my web site will load faster. I usually create buttons for the navigation, and then create rollover effects from within Image Ready. This saves me quite a bit of time, because all of the JavaScript for the mouse over effects are done for me, which allows me to work on the more advanced coding of the pages. Even if you want to create all of the navigation and layout of your web site without Photoshop, then you should at least use Photoshop to optimize your images so that you web site loads within a reasonable amount of time.

A primary knowledge of what the image is about forms the basic editing sense. Some thing like coffee should be brown, hot coffee should have vapor dancing on it. An image in a hill station in early morning should capture dew drops better. You see many such simple and basic senses help you a long way in editing photographic images!
Not what you shoot, it is what you show others in your digital photograph that matters. You may want to show something to someone, but the picture may have some features that you don’t want them to see, you cannot tear it either. You see editing helps you in such situations.
Morphing, there are may photo morphing softwares available to morph your pictures. Have you seen in pictures, the hero; a child image may change to become the man; that is morphing, a kind of morphing. Well it is very simple you need two digital images, scan them and save to your computer. It can be your son’s photo, and your husbands photo you can morph images of your son in to his father or his grandfather, or you can morph your own self to your mother…See all it requires is a morphing software, and the images, and a few clicks away see even you are editing! Great thing! Big achievement. You will feel you are creating graphics for a fairy tale!
Learning to use every feature of the DigiCam is your first step towards editing. Using the adjustable features efficiently is by itself is the first step towards editing. Presetting the digital effects before shooting an event is the primary step of editing. Well, you have your great grandfather’s picture, torn in the edges, rust in his shoes, a crater in his moustache the photograph is going to die! Editing digitally is an art, which can help your great grand ancestor liven up on your desktop or smile in your ancestral tree. You can color your old black and white photos with digital editing techniques.
Well there is a 1-2-3 step for the beginning editor. For example you have shot your favorite pet. How do you edit the picture. Enlarge the pet’s image first. If it is on the grass or on the tile, and you feel there are any undesirable objects which you may not want in the picture delete it and patch the place with a copy paste of the surrounding tile or grass. If you plan to take a print out adjust the resolution based on the size of the photo frame and here you goyou have started to edit.
Red eye is something that all of us come across when we take certain snaps. So, you have landed up with a phosphorous glow in your baby’s eye. Well don’t worry. Primarily there are many camcorders coming with the option of no red eye option, use that before you click. If you have already got a photo with a red eye there are very many options to eliminate it. There are many red eye remover programs that can be downloaded online if you do not have an digital camera with the option of no red eye feature!
The very many images you shoot and all the images you have edited, the effects you have created are of no use when you don’t share or exhibit it to others. Show your friends and get some tips from them on how to edit images. Such a chat will enable you to understand what actually people do look in a photograph and what are the areas to be edited to create an effective photograph!

Alcohol abuse affects the body in many ways. In the brain’s case, the effects can be devastating and permanent. Long term alcohol abuse has been shown in many brain studies to actually physically shrink the portion of the brain that controls the memory and learning functions. This decrease in area is most apparent in the cortex of the frontal lobe, which is the center of higher intellectual functions. The shrinkage of these areas will continue to grow with continued drinking and with age. The first noticeable sign of alcohol associated damage is short-term memory loss.
Progressive brain shrinkage was shown in a study that conducted periodic imaging in alcoholics over a five year period. The amount of brain shrinkage was directly related to the amount of alcohol consumed, but there was no question that the shrinkage far exceeded anything in the normal range.
Alcohol related brain damage can occur in any alcoholic that consumes large amount of alcohol over a long period of time. The extent of the damage is dependant on the system of the drinker, the type and amount of alcohol consumed and the accompanying diet of the drinker.
Another contributor to brain damage is the nutritional problems that are created by alcohol consumption. Malnutrition is many times the result of drinking excessively. Essential parts of the brain experience damage due to vitamin deficiencies, thiamine in particular. Toxicity in the body’s systems builds from alcohol, damaging vital organs such as the brain, liver, pancreas, and kidneys.
Serious effects on the central nervous system are also the result of alcohol.
If caught early enough, much of the alcohol damage can possibly be reversed and can sometimes disappear entirely. This reversal can be best supported by a complete abstinence from alcohol, an improved diet and by taking vitamins, especially B1 and thiamine. In addition, there is a vitamin called milk thistle that can ever help restore liver functions.

Know When To Stop: If you decide to drink alcohol, you need to be responsible enough to know when you need to stop drinking. If you want to test your limits, make sure you do it at home with someone you trust so you can get an idea of when you should stop before you become out of control and unaware. Many people find that drinking any more than one drink in an hour can cause problems. Drink Slowly: If you are going to drink responsibly you need to be sure that you drink slowly. People get drunk quickly when they gulp down drinks and do not realize how much they are consuming. Take the time to enjoy what you are drinking and focus on the wonderful flavors instead of drinking a large quantity quickly.
If you consider yourself a binge drinker it would be wise to stop right away before it turns into something you would not be able to control. Binge drinking does not discriminate; it does not care if you are black, white, yellow or red. Parents being more knowledgeable when it comes to their children’s activities during college and parties are an effective weapon against binge drinking. Many teenagers agree that peer pressure is a major factor in them deciding to binge drink. Parents should talk to their kids at a young age about the dangers of alcohol abuse, and throughout their teenage years also. Communication is the best defense against situations like these when it comes to your kids. Try anything within your power as a parent to prevent your kids from abusing alcohol. Let them know the dangers of alcoholism and the shame and hurt it can convey upon loved ones.
If you are trying to prevent yourself from drinking too much alcohol at social gatherings or even in your daily life, there are certain things you should know about how to live a life that is balanced and alcohol-free. Here are a few ways that you can keep your alcohol intake under control. One of the best things you can do to monitor your drinking is to plan your social life carefully. If you want to stay away from alcohol, try to make sure that you are not always in tempting settings where alcohol is served. If you usually go to lounges and parties where there is a bartender or cocktails, try going to the movies or pack a picnic instead. Not only will this give you and your friends something different to do when you go out, but you can be sure that you won’t have to deal with the pressure of drinking if you feel it may get out of control. In addition, the people that you are hanging out with won’t be drinking either, which takes the pressure off tremendously.
If we drink too much, too regularly, we are more likely to become depressed. Regular drinking can leave us tired and depressed. There is evidence that alcohol changes the chemistry of the brain itself and that this increases the risk of depression. Hangovers create a cycle of waking up feeling ill, anxious, jittery and guilty. Regular drinking can make life depressing - family arguments, poor work, unreliable memory and sexual problems.
As you drink different parts of your brain are affected that can lead to problems. The Hupothalamus and Pituitary Gland controls your sexual desire and growth. There are two very noticeable side effects Alcohol has on this part of your brain. This part of your brain controls the chemicals and endocrine functions like sex hormone secretion, growth and thyroid. Your sexual functions or easily affected, like your sexual performance decrease’s and your arousal increases. Increased urine excretion. The Medulla is the most important part of your brain, this controls your bodily functions, such as heart rate, breathing, temperature and consciousness. To much Alcohol effects all these parts, this is because your BAC (Blood Level Content) keeps increasing. This is why alcohol is horrible for your body, as you drink more these important brain functions start to malfunction or fail.
With new technology in, many cars will have sensors installed in them like alarm systems in case the driver inside falls asleep. They will soon be fitted with anti collision devices so that the car brakes automatically if it is about to crash with another object in the front or the back. Unfortunately if you are detained for DUI, then hiring a DUI lawyer proves to be the best decision. Driving under the influence can have serious consequences on you if you are involved in a car accident. The offender may face penalties like jail or prison, penalties or fines, vehicle impoundments, etc. The DUI lawyer is accustomed with the ins and outs and procedures involved with DUI charges and are your best bet if you find yourself in such a predicament. So just take into account your actions and act as a responsible citizen that can actually set an example to other people as well. Make sure it is not you who would unnecessarily force others to drink at your parties. Prevention is always better than cure. Hence, drinking and driving should not go jointly.
Are you in the habit of denying your feelings of anger and hiding those feelings? Are you able to own your anger and go with it? All of these things are important and you will need to learn how to recognize your feelings of anger. The second thing you can do is to make a list of your anger signs. Notice and record stomach, head and back aches. You may have a problem with rapid speech when you become angry. You may use sarcasm or become cynical. Do you scream and yell or argue with others when you are angry? Is violence an issue? Also list any isolation techniques you use or if you tend to avoid people when you are angry. Often when a person is no longer drinking alcohol they will still have thoughts about using. Have you experienced compulsive actions that involve, eating, spending too much, gambling or sex? You can add to the list denial or rationalization problems you have when angry, as well as revenge fantasies. Do you withhold yourself from others or become silent? All of these things may be signs of anger.

Editing your digital photographs has never been as intriguing and captivating as Photoshop makes it. However, the numerous complicated procedures and endless array of features that this software boasts of, makes working a beginner’s way through it a considerable challenge. The more explicit of features are often shrouded under the hoard of categories and puzzling options that dot the interface, which may dishearten the most enthusiastic of amateurs until he figures his way around the software. And if you happen to fall under this genre of fumbling novices, take heart. It is this daunting learning curve that Adobe simplifies with the toned down version of Photoshop, which is called Photoshop Elements.
Photoshop Elements is a unique blend of some of the most alluring possibilities that Photoshop has to offer. only, it limits its selection to the more commonly used functions which means that as the user, you have a lot less technicality to maneuver through, without being starved of all the tools you need to work wonders on your images. Elements simplifies a number of procedures that you may have to grapple with the more expansive version, without giving you that feeling of “That’s it?” which effectively ruins your creative process. And this is the very reason why this software is such a great success with amateur photographers and digital imaging enthusiasts. It offers them all the core elements of Photoshop which have earned this software its fame, while leaving out the professional tools that they wouldn’t have used anyway. In all its concise glory, Elements is comprised of an efficient photo-editor, a photo-organizer that you can use once you’ve added your inimitable touch to your images and even a collection of themes and templates to augment your images with.
Photoshop Elements allows you to achieve some of the most spectacular effects that you would like to experiment with, when using Photoshop. Only, it scales down the often elaborate procedures which Photoshop entails to one simple function. As a result, you can wipe away those disastrous red eyes, crop your images and even moderate the light and color adjustments in a few swift moves. This is where the automated ‘Red Eye Removal’ feature, the ‘Quick Fix’ functions and the ‘Auto Contrast’ and ‘Auto Crop’ options take over tedious task of fine tuning your images and making the necessary changes, while also allowing you to view the progress with before and after images.
Photoshop Elements also segregates its tools on the basis of the function they are designed to fulfill, so that the apprehension of wandering through a maze of options and selections is done away with. you can simply browse through the selection of tools offered under the ‘Organize’, ‘Fix’, ‘Create’ and ‘Share Photos’ categories based on what you’re looking to do with your photographs. The process of selection is brilliantly simplified with the user having to simply paint over the desired section of the image and letting the selection tool carve out the edges by itself. And if you’re looking for finer precision, you can also use the ‘Refine Edge’ dialog to smoothen, contract or expand the selection edge.
You can also convert your colored images to vintage black and white souvenirs, choose from the array of styles that Elements offers and even adjust the intensity as per the effect you want to achieve. The ‘Organize’ section has an incredibly useful feature called ‘Smart Albums’ which let you pick out the images you’ve edited on a particular date or even the one’s you’ve captured with a specific camera. Elements also makes it a lot easier to navigate through the software with the more prominent and larger icons it offers, while the astounding number of add-ons and tutorials you can find off the internet, make it an comprehensive and resourceful software to work with.
Photoshop Elements allows you a number of alternatives when it comes to showcasing your creations. You can either package your images into slideshows or feature them in web-galleries, or even print them out on contact sheets, depending on how you want to display them. The software also has a number of frames you can choose from, and even a selection of backgrounds and artwork that you can click and drop on your image to yield results that are nothing short of spectacular.
Photoshop Elements gives you a very helpful start when you first venture into the world of digital image editing. However, Photoshop has its own brand of loyalists who will insist that you cannot afford to opt for anything less than the all-inclusive version. And if you in a quandary about which side the grass is greener on, simply visit the Photoshop website and download trial versions of both varieties. Although time-bound, they do allow you a complete insight into all the softwares are capable of, giving you a comprehensive picture to base your selection on. So once you know the limits which you can scale with digital editing, why wait any longer? Download your trial versions, or take the plunge and invest in the software today and watch your images look more stunning than you could have ever pictured them as.

From weddings to boardroom conferences there is barely a social gathering that doesn’t warrant the casual drink or two, as a means of rejuvenation or social bonding. Consumption of alcohol is widely accepted, if not encouraged, by many societies all over the world. But this seemingly harmless drink, which is often a pleasant addition to a great evening of relaxation, does have a dark and vicious side to it. Enslaved by the temporary ‘high’ that alcohol grants them, many individuals begin to rely on alcohol as a means to handle stress and unwind after a long, hard day. And with every drink that he reaches out for, either as a habit he is accustomed to, or as an escape from his tensions, he draws closer and closer to falling prey to the vicious disease of alcoholism.
This disease is very difficult to unmask as the individual himself does not see anything abnormal with his drinking habit and people around him discard the problem as just a mere indulgence, which the person can bring an end to anytime he wants. And this cycle of deception continues, until the ill-effects of alcohol become so severe that only drastic measures have to be called upon. Alcohol is a slow poison one that works itself up into your body, destroying it over the course of time and gradually enveloping your family and social interactions in its cloud of gloom which further spreads to encompass the society and even the economy and development of the country as a whole with the spate of delinquent behaviors and loss of productivity it causes.
Excessive consumption of alcohol claims its stake on the victim’s body, inflicting him with a multitude of physical illnesses like heart and liver disorders. Needless to say, his performance at work is affected which, over time impairs the functioning of the organization and thus hindering the progress of the economy which the organization is a part of.
In addition to the diminished amounts of income that an alcoholic earns, his expenditure only increases as he spends more and more of his earnings on alcohol. Needless to say, this behavior takes a toll on the physical and emotional health of his immediate family, causing relationships to be estranged and burdening the victim with financial woes. To escape these worries, he tends to drink more and more, without realizing the fact that alcohol is only further adding to his depression, as the inherent trait of alcohol is that of a depressant. This pattern of drinking has no end to it, as he continues to drink to evade the depression that his drinking itself is causing him.
Alcoholics are also known to suffer from low self-esteem, as his addiction is viewed as something he has brought on to himself, as he is too weak in spirit to ‘resist’ the temptation and he more often than not receives very little sympathy, if at all. Alcohol also directly hinders the functioning of the brain and the nervous system, causing severe psychological ailments which begin with chronic depression and may even progress to schizophrenia and paranoia. Alcoholics are also at a heightened risk of developing other substance abuse patterns, which combined with the drastic impact alcohol itself has on the victim, destroy his physical and mental well-being.
Children who come from alcoholism-wrecked homes are also more likely to suffer from depression, which sets in right from early childhood in the form of uncontrollable crying, bedwetting and nightmares. Older children tend to exhibit extreme behavioral patterns where some of them are overtly rebellious, irregular in their study habits and destructive in their behavior, while those at the other end of the scale tend to be extremely docile, excessively meek and eager to please and compulsive about their grades. These children also cut themselves off social activities, with no one to speak their hearts out to, and despite their valiant efforts, are convinced that they are failures.
The mounting pressures of the modern day world and the relentless pace of life lead to larger numbers of people trying to drink away their fears and worries with every passing day. But if you think that these are reasons enough for you to loosen up with ‘just another tin drink’ think again. Your excesses can not only jeopardize your life and well-being, but also that of your family and those you are close to. Take a minute to consider if the gamble, though a seemingly harmless one, is a wise choice to make, given all the disastrous effects it can lead to. Take that first step today and pull yourself out of the reaches of alcoholism and you’ll soon realize all the wonders of life you had shut your doors to.

They say there’s more than one way to skin a cat. The same goes when you start tearing your hair out with all the frustration, grief, anxiety, and yes, stress. It’s a state of mental conditioning that is like taking that bitter pill down your throat, causing you to lose your sense of self, and worse your sanity. Just thinking about it can drive anyone off the edge. And they say that the proactive ones are already living off the edge.
Here are some tips to make it through the week even if you’re just sitting in your favorite couch. An idea takes time to form in your head and is always at work while you are busy sitting. Having a bit of positive thinking can help you realize things that are never thought possible. Thinking big is indeed the American Way and that what made our country prosperous.
1. Know your purpose: Are you wandering through life with little direction - hoping that you’ll find happiness, health and prosperity? Identify your life purpose or mission statement and you will have your own unique compass that will lead you to your truth north every time. This may seem tricky at first when you see yourself to be in a tight or even dead end. But there’s always that little loophole to turn things around and you can make a big difference to yourself.
2. Commit to yourself as well as those you love to create powerfully a life you can love. Instead of reacting, commit to creating from your heart and soul, out of love rather than fear. The American Dream will always be there, but a dream will still be a dream without motion. Be amazed as the transformation begins.
3. Know your needs: Unmet needs can keep you from living authentically. Take care of yourself. Do you have a need to be acknowledged, to be right, to be in control, to be loved? There are so many people who lived their lives without realizing their dreams and most of them end up being stressed or even depressed for that matter. List your top four needs and get them met before it’s too late!
4. Practice socially acceptable heavy breathing: This is something I’ve learned from a gym instructor: You can trick your body into relaxing by using heavy breathing. Breathe in slowly for a count of 7 then breathe out for a count of 11. Repeat the 7-11 breathing until your heart rate slows down, your sweaty palms dry off and things start to feel more normal.
5. Use a Passion Formula of Recognize/Reevaluate/Restore in place of the Shoulda/Woulda/Coulda whirlwind. The former is based in increased knowledge and abundance while the latter focuses on scarcity and lack. As you face people or tasks that may seem harder than scaling the summit of the Himalayas, allow yourself to realize that the task is just as important as giving out orders to your subordinates. You would rather be richly passionate!
6. Know your trigger points and hot spots: Presentations, interviews, meetings, giving difficult feedback, tight deadlines. My heart rate is cranking up just writing these down! Make your own list of stress trigger points or hot spots. Be specific. Is it only presentations to a certain audience that get you worked up? Does one project cause more stress than another? Did you drink too much coffee? Knowing what causes you stress is powerful information, as you can take action to make it less stressful. Do you need to learn some new skills? Do you need extra resources? Do you need to switch to decaf?
7. Serve others: When you live authentically, you may find that you develop an interconnected sense of being. When you are true to who you are, living your purpose and giving of your talents to the world around you, you give back in service what you came to share with others -your spirit - your essence. The rewards for sharing your gift with those close to you is indeed rewarding, much more if it were to be the eyes of a stranger who can appreciate what you have done to them. Self-improvement is indeed one type of work that is worth it. It shouldn’t always be within the confines of an office building, or maybe in the four corners of your own room. The difference lies within ourselves and how much we want to change for the better.

When it comes to editing digital photography, there is hardly a photo-editor which is as effective and as diverse as Photoshop is. However, given the plethora of options it offers and the myriad functions it is loaded with, Photoshop may not always be the most amiable to softwares to grapple with as a beginner in fact, working your way around some of Photoshop’s more complicated maneuvers may be a very daunting task and is even disheartening if you aren’t too conversant with the way this software functions. And to combat this disadvantage that many novices around the world have to deal with, Adobe has devised and developed a more scaled down version of its full-fledged software, which is aptly named Photoshop Elements.
Photoshop Elements also facilitates the process of editing by letting you accomplish some of the more common functions of photo-editing, with just one simple function, instead of having to plod through endless steps and routines. For instance, one of the most common problems that plague a majority of photographers is the red-eye effect, which ruins the best of photographs by cropping up at the most inopportune of moments. Getting rid of this effect can be very tedious with Photoshop per se, but with Photoshop Elements, you can use the automatic Red Eye Removal feature and let the software do the laboring for you. Even better, the Quick-Fix functions let you crop images and adjust the light and color with the Auto Smart Fix and the Auto Contrast and Crop options, while also letting to take a look at the before and after versions.
If you think that your image would look a lot better in its black and white version, you can effortlessly give your photograph that vintage facelift, while also adjusting the intensity of the effect you are looking for. And for those last-minute hurried searches through the mounds of images you’ve stacked up on your desktop, simply go into the ‘Organize’ section and click on the feature which says ‘Smart Albums’. This will let you scan through your images as per the date you’ve last worked on them, or even as per the camera you’ve captured them with. The Elements interface is also a lot easier to navigate as the icons it displays are larger and more prominent than most other editors. You can also source an amazing number of tutorials and add-ons off the internet, which let you make the most of your software, and progress in leaps and bounds in your application of the tools.
Irrespective of whether you choose to use Photoshop Elements all by itself, or as a part of your Photoshop exploration process, this software lives up to every claim it makes. But if you are bound by constraints of time and budget, or are swayed by the argument Photoshop loyalists swear by, then you can even download trial versions of both kinds of software from the website and browse through all their features. Although these trials are time-bound, they offer you the complete versions of the software, which are invaluable when it comes to making your selection. The bottom line is that if you have the will and the inspiration enough, the means by which you can accomplish your aspirations are many. All you have to do is take that first step and get your very own photo-editing software today and let your images shine in their true glory.
