Limit or eliminate foods such as junk food, fast food, processed cakes, cookies, etc. Modest amounts of meats are fine (all meat contains some saturated fat), but you should concentrate on getting most of your fat from monounsaturated sources.

If you already suffer from high blood pressure, trans fats and other “bad” fats can place your cardiovascular system under even more stress. In addition, if you eat dairy products, you should opt for low-fat or no fat dairy products. Full fat dairy products can be stressful to your body and increase your blood pressure, since they contain saturated fats.

If you have high blood pressure, eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as fish. Eat modest amounts of dairy products and meat, and include some sources of monounsaturated fats in your diet, such as moderate amounts of nuts, canola oil, or olive oil.
