When designing Christmas baskets be creative. Do not ever just toss things together. It will look sloppy and unprofessional. Try to think of unique ways to make your basket stand out. When placing your gifts in the container remember to add something solid, like styrofoam or bunched up paper to the bottom. This will prevent your items from falling into the container and out of sight by allowing them to sit higher and be seen. Doing this, will not only look pleasing but also serve as a centerpiece if the recipient chooses.

There are many types of containers available for your use. Inexpensive baskets purchased from the dollar store work well, or you can show your individual style by using unusual items. Popcorn tins, flower pots, beach pails, dutch ovens, or other small pans can fit into your over-all theme. You are limited only by your own imagination.

Fill your Christmas basket with items that pertain to your theme. A popcorn tin could be a family movie night. Flower pots could be filled for the gardening enthusiast, or the beach pail laden with toys for a child. Cooking utensils make a good basket for food items or your famous home made fruit cake.

When finalizing the design of the basket, you can use a few different items to add a touch of design class to the items to make the contents look more festive. Many people use colorful seasonal ribbons and crepe papers to line the bottom of the baskets to make the items within look better. A colorful wrap around the basket, whether you use a shrink wrap to seal the contents or some other material to cover the outside, can also add some charm to the gift basket.

Baskets given as holiday presents can be colored to reflect the recipient and not necessarily have the typical red and green or white and blue color schemes associated with the season. If the recipient has a favorite color scheme, that can be reflected in the contents and the adornments on the basket. If the basket is being made as a corporate offering, the colors can reflect a company’s logo colors.

Baskets are used as a common holiday gift idea by businesses and individuals alike looking for a creative and unique way to tie together items and ideas into one seasonal present for their customers or recipients. Many companies looking to show special appreciation to employees who have worked extra hard and have been successful for the year use baskets as a great way to reward those workers.

The holidays do not need to cost a fortune. You can create memories to last a lifetime for family and friends. Your own artistic ability can be showcased in the baskets you create. Each basket can be personalized for the person receiving it and provide a theme that fits in with their own personality. Enjoy creating your unique Christmas presents this year.
